ITFDB!!
“What’s America’s past time?” WELL of course , it’s BASEBALL!
What baseball team is a big part of the San Fernando valley? WELL the Los Angeles Dodgers of course! The LA dodgers is a huge team out here! We route for them from start to finish!
Previously, the La dodgers were known as the Brooklyn Dodgers
Playing in NY in Brooklyn at Ebbets Field (1913-1957) . They were founded in 1883. They were called the Brooklyn Dodgers due to Brooklyn residents dodging cars. They became widely knows in the 1900s .
They relocated over to Los Angeles in 1958 and played at the Los Angeles memorial coliseum from
1958-1961. The LA dodgers came to Los Angeles in 1962. First Major League Baseball (MLB) team on the West Coast → helped expand baseball nationwide. Dodger stadium is still one of the oldest & largest stadiums still in use. While growing up, all I heard in the background was Vin Scully, the voice of the Dodgers narrating everything while they play. I can still hear his voice and remebering Ithsoe amazing days. Vin Scully was the LA Dodgers! He sure is missed. I’ve been to many LA Dodger games in my lifetime. I’ve been up in the box office suite many times when I was younger because one of my family members got that privilege and the whole family and some family friends enjoyed the games watching from up there. It was a lot of fun and great times. And then there are many times when we of course went to the dodger games and sat the chairs and my last dodger game that I ever saw was a couple years ago for my 29th birthday. It was a lot of fun and we won that night. I hope I get to go to more dodger games in the future. The LA dodger games are the only games I’ve really seen here in Los Angeles like the team that I root for the most, I have seen one LA Kings game in my life but most of the time it’s always the LA Dodgers for me. Honestly, there’s nothing more fun than during this time of year when baseball season hits, baseball is literally my favorite sport, and I just love all the things around it, the seasons which are practically spring and summer and half of fall and just the atmosphere and I am blessed that I am from Los Angeles and I can call myself a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. When you watch the games at breweries, or sports bars, it’s also really fun.
Championships:
They won 9 Championships throughout the years. In 1955 as Brooklyn dodgers. The rest were all Los Angeles. Here’s the timeline of their wins. 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988, 2020, 2024, & 2025!! Frequent playoff contenders, especially in the 2010s–2020s. We could’ve won in 2017 but the other team cheated .
Historic impact played a role. Jackie Robinson ring a bell? He broke MLB’s color barrier in 1947 with the Dodgers. One of the most important moments in sports and civil rights history. Jackie Robinson’s number was 42 in baseball . They honor him on April 15th every year as Jackie Robinson day. You’ll see all the players wear the number 42 on their jerseys
