When it rains in the Valley, it literally feels like a different universe. Like… I’m not even exaggerating.

Rain here isn’t just weather—it’s a whole thing.

Living in the San Fernando Valley, we’re used to sun all the time. Dry heat, clear skies, same vibe almost every day. So when it starts raining, everything just shifts. The sky gets all gray, the air cools down, and suddenly it feels like we’re somewhere else.

And people? Everyone starts acting different.

Some people get excited, some get stressed, and some just stare outside like it’s the most interesting thing ever. Me? I love it. I’m one of those people that gets excited when it rains here because we never get it like that.

It’s just so nice. The sound of it, the smell in the air, the way everything looks darker and calmer—it’s honestly kind of peaceful. Like everything slows down for a second.

But let’s be real…

Driving in the rain out here? 😭

The SECOND it starts raining, it’s like nobody knows how to drive anymore. People either slow down way too much or drive like it’s still sunny, and both are bad. Traffic gets worse, there’s more accidents, and the freeways get backed up so fast.

Even regular streets get crazy. And because of that, plans start changing real quick. Things get canceled, people stay home, and everyone kind of just… adjusts.

But also? That’s kind of the best part. Rain is like an excuse to stay in, be cozy, bring your pets inside, and just watch it. No rushing, no pressure, just vibes. Whether you’re by a window, in your room, or even just sitting somewhere watching it fall—it’s a whole mood.

And another thing I’ve noticed…

The SECOND it starts raining in the Valley, EVERYONE posts about it. 😂

Like instantly.

Instagram stories, Snapchat, TikTok—everyone’s like “it’s raining!!!” as if we’ve never seen it before. Videos of the rain, pics of the sky, windshield shots while driving, and especially when the rainbow comes out??

Oh yeah… it’s over.

Everybody turns into a photographer real quick. Phones out, cameras out, posting like crazy because it’s rare for us. And honestly, I get it—I be doing the same thing.

And when the rain stops, everything just looks better. The mountains look clearer, the air feels fresh, and everything has a little bit of green to it again. It’s like the Valley resets itself for a minute.

I’ve always loved stormy weather too, especially monsoon-type storms. Like the heavy rain, thunder, lightning—that’s my kind of weather. We don’t really get full monsoon storms here like the desert does, but I always hope we get something close.

Maybe one day.

I definitely hope we get more rain this year, and hopefully a wetter winter next time around too.

Because out here, we really do base our days around the weather.

And when it rains?

We stop everything just to watch it.

That’s just how we are in the Valley. 🌧️✨
